What we're looking for · Electronics & interconnect

Electronics & interconnect

The highest unit volumes in the building and the components most often chosen badly. Interconnect decides whether a machine survives a million cycles, and no engineer has ever regretted holding the connector before specifying it.

The list

15 shelves
we want filled.

Every line below is a display we would like somebody to own. Several are still completely open.

  1. 01

    Circular and industrial connectors

M8, M12, M23 and heavy-duty rectangular connectors, shielded and unshielded, with IP67 and above. Field-terminable versions and US stock are what integrators ask about first.

  2. 02

    Board-to-board and wire-to-board

Fine-pitch stacking connectors, headers, FFC and FPC systems, and the mating heights that let a customer thin a product by two millimetres.

  3. 03

    High-current and power connectors

Busbar lugs, hot-swap power connectors, high-current blade and pin systems for battery packs and racks. Derating at temperature, published, or it does not count.

  4. 04

    RF and coaxial

SMA, MMCX, U.FL and board-mount RF connectors, coaxial cable assemblies and antennas. VSWR over band, and an assembly house that can terminate it repeatably.

  5. 05

    Cable assemblies and harnesses

Custom harnesses, overmoulded assemblies, drag-chain and torsion-rated cable, and the IPC/WHMA-A-620 class you build to. Harness quality is where machine reliability quietly lives.

  6. 06

    Wire, cable and sleeving

Single-core, multi-core, shielded, high-flex and halogen-free cable, plus braided sleeving, conduit and glands. Bend-cycle test data separates drag-chain cable from cable in a drag chain.

  7. 07

    Printed circuit boards

Rigid, flex, rigid-flex, HDI, heavy copper and metal-core boards, with impedance control and IPC class stated. Quick-turn prototype capability is worth as much as unit price here.

  8. 08

    PCB assembly

SMT and through-hole assembly, BGA rework, conformal coating, potting and box build. Say what you do in-house and what you subcontract, because everyone finds out eventually.

  9. 09

    Passive components

Capacitors, resistors, inductors, ferrites, crystals and oscillators. Ripple-current ratings, temperature coefficients and a lifetime forecast, from a factory rather than a broker.

  10. 10

    Semiconductors and power devices

MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC and GaN devices, gate drivers, diodes and modules. Authorised distribution only: provenance is not negotiable in this aisle.

  11. 11

    Relays, contactors and switchgear

Electromechanical and solid-state relays, contactors, circuit protection, fuses and surge arrestors. Coordination data and the UL file number, not just the mark on the label.

  12. 12

    EMC components

Common-mode chokes, filters, shielding, ferrite clamps and gasketing. Sold late, needed early, and the reason a lot of good products slip a quarter.

  13. 13

    LEDs, optoelectronics and lasers

Indicator and illumination LEDs, machine-vision lighting, photodiodes, optocouplers, laser diodes and modules. Binning and colour consistency across lots is the thing buyers get burned on.

  14. 14

    Terminal blocks and panel components

DIN-rail terminals, distribution blocks, marking systems, wiring duct and the panel accessories that make up half of any control cabinet.

  15. 15

    Antennas and RF modules

Embedded, external and GNSS antennas, plus certified radio modules. Radiation patterns measured on a realistic ground plane rather than an ideal one.

What a good display looks like

How to stand out
in this category.

Bring samples people can mate and unmate. Publish mating cycles, contact resistance after life test, and the approvals (UL, cURus, CE, RoHS, REACH) for the actual part number rather than the family.
