What we're looking for · Power & energy

Power & energy

Every machine on the other floors runs on something from this one. Power is where reliability is won or lost, where compliance takes the longest, and where a supplier who has already shipped into the US saves a customer half a year.

The list

15 shelves
we want filled.

Every line below is a display we would like somebody to own. Several are still completely open.

  1. 01

    Lithium cells

Cylindrical, prismatic and pouch cells, LFP and NMC, high-rate and high-energy variants. Cycle life at the customer's C-rate and temperature, with the test report behind it.

  2. 02

    Battery packs and modules

Welded and bolted packs, module assemblies, enclosures and thermal management. Pack builders who have already been through UN38.3 save a customer months, and should say so first.

  3. 03

    Battery management systems

BMS boards from two-cell to high-voltage stacks, with balancing, state estimation and a communication stack a customer can integrate rather than reverse-engineer.

  4. 04

    Chargers and charging systems

Onboard and offboard chargers, docking contacts for mobile robots, wireless charging pads and the safety interlocks around them.

  5. 05

    AC/DC power supplies

Open-frame, enclosed, DIN-rail and medical-grade supplies. Efficiency at 20% load, hold-up time and the actual MTBF method used are worth more than the headline wattage.

  6. 06

    DC/DC converters

Isolated and non-isolated bricks, point-of-load modules, wide-input converters for vehicle and robot buses. Transient response under a real load step, please.

  7. 07

    Supercapacitors and buffers

Supercapacitor modules, buffer units and hold-up circuits for controlled shutdown and peak shaving. Increasingly the answer where a battery is overkill.

  8. 08

    Uninterruptible power and backup

Rack and DIN-rail UPS units, battery backup modules and redundancy controllers for machines that must not lose their position on a power dip.

  9. 09

    Inverters and motor drives

Traction inverters, VFDs and servo power stages, plus the SiC and GaN stages inside them. Efficiency maps rather than a single peak-efficiency figure.

  10. 10

    Solar, fuel cells and generation

Panels, MPPT controllers, small fuel-cell stacks and hybrid controllers for off-grid and field equipment. Real-world duty profiles beat laboratory peaks.

  11. 11

    Power distribution and busbars

Laminated and machined busbars, PDUs, fuse holders, current-sharing modules and the copper that carries kilowatts into a rack without becoming a hot spot.

  12. 12

    Wiring, grounding and protection

Circuit breakers, RCDs, surge protection, grounding hardware and arc-fault detection. Boring, mandatory, and inspected before anything else is switched on.

  13. 13

    Energy storage systems

Cabinet and container ESS, PCS units and the EMS software. A category where the certification package is close to being the product itself.

  14. 14

    Power measurement and metering

Energy meters, power analysers, current transformers and the modules that let a machine report its own consumption. Increasingly a contractual requirement, not a nice extra.

  15. 15

    Cooling for power electronics

Cold plates, liquid loops, high-static-pressure fans, heat sinks and thermal interface materials rated for the power densities this floor deals in.

What a good display looks like

How to stand out
in this category.

Battery applicants should have UN38.3, IEC 62133 or UL 2054 reports ready and be able to discuss shipping classification. Power-supply applicants should bring derating curves at the customer's ambient, not at 25 degrees.
